It’s the time of the year, and if you’re like most, you’ll probably be setting big goals to achieve for the new year ahead. We all like a fresh new start to things – it brings us hope and new possibilities. But another year will pass, much like how we’re already in week 52 of 2017. Let’s take some time to see how far we’ve come. Have we achieved our resolutions we set at the start of this year? I surely hope we achieved a few on the list! I like having a few specific goals set out for the year because it keeps me focused throughout the year. So, here are FOUR must-set resolutions you should include for 2018!
Pay Yourself First
This is an easy one. Just set aside 20-30% of your monthly income the moment you receive your paycheck. If you’re a student taking allowance from your parents, try living on less and aim to set aside at least 5% of your allowance the moment you receive it. By setting aside a pre-determined amount monthly, you unconsciously build up a pool of savings which could be used for investing or other big ticket items in the future. Living on lesser than what you are used to spending may be hard at first, but you will adjust to your new spending habits very soon! Keep trying!
Read – A book a month preferably!
Think about it for a second. You would be 12 books wiser at the end of 2018! Take your knowledge to social gatherings and create meaningful conversations with people around you. Knowledge is power! Keep that reading list filled, always!
This is my personal favourite. It can be a little awkward at first, but you just have to take the plunge! I went on my first solo trip to Taiwan last year and it was the best thing ever. You’ll get to meet new people and completely immerse yourself in another culture. It can really widen your perspective. Better yet, you’ll become an interesting person to converse with! Of course you can always start in Singapore. After all, there’s a lot more in our own backyard that we have yet to explore!
Find a partner
We are not referring to anything romantic. We suggesting an ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER! Find someone that can hold you accountable to your goals, while you do the same for that person. As individuals, there’s only so much willpower we have. We all need a little push or nudge from time to time. Take the next few days screening through your contact list to find your accountability partner! At the end of 2018, look back on the year and see how much y’all have achieved as a team! 🙂
So here you go. Four resolutions you should include in 2018! Let’s make this new year a good one! On a more important note, don’t forget to take part in our INVEST Conference 2018 ticket giveaway! Each ticket is worth $88 so you won’t want to miss it!
